Cuauhtémoc Blanco regresa al juego de estrellas de la MLS

Nuevamente Cuauhtémoc Blanco estará en el juego de las estrellas de la MLS, esta es la segunda ocación que participará, el año pasado fue designado el más valioso del juegO.

NUEVA YORK. El Jugador Más Valioso del Partido de las Estrellas de la MLS 2008, el mediocampista de Chicago Fire Cuauhtémoc Blanco, reemplazará a Dwayne De Rosario en los Primeros Once de las Estrellas este año. De Rosario no podrá participar en el All-Star 2009 debido al compromiso de su equipo, Toronto FC, en la ronda preliminar de la Liga de Campeones de la CONCACAF frente a Puerto Rico Islanders el miércoles, 29 de julio, el mismo día del Partido de las Estrellas de la MLS 2009.

Blanco, quien recibió la siguiente votación más alta entre los mediocampistas, se unirá a su compañero de equipo Wilman Conde, siendo el segundo representante del Fire en el Partido de las Estrellas. Seattle Sounders FC, Columbus Crew y Houston Dynamo también aportan dos jugadores a los Primeros Once.

Esta es la segunda nominación consecutiva de Blanco al Partido de las Estrellas, luego de participar en el partido del año pasado en Toronto, donde anotó un gol espectacular y brindó una asistencia a Christian Gómez en el gol de la victoria para el MLS sobre West Ham United por 3-2.

Ante la baja de Dwayne De Rosario, el mexicano Blanco formará parte de los Primeros Once de las Estrellas.

El Partido de las Estrellas de la MLS 2009 se jugará el miércoles 29 de julio en el estadio Río Tinto -casa del Real Salt Lake- en Sandy, Utah, donde las Estrellas de la MLS se enfrentarán al Everton FC de la Liga Premier inglesa. El partido será televisado en vivo por Galavisión y ESPN2 a partir de las 6:30 de la tarde.

El entrenador del Houston Dynamo, Dominic Kinnear, y su cuerpo técnico anunciarán sus selecciones adicionales de jugadores, el lunes de la semana que viene. Dos jugadores seleccionados por el Comisionado completarán la plantilla de 18 futbolistas. Kinnear se convirtió en el entrenador del equipo de las Estrellas de la MLS al liderar al cuadro Naranaja con el mejor puntaje de la liga hasta el 28 de junio.

Los Primeros Once de Estrellas de la MLS no representan necesariamente los once jugadores titulares, ya que el director técnico Kinnear elegirá a los titulares, tomando en cuenta la disponibilidad de jugadores y consideraciones tácticas. Si algún jugador del Equipo de las Estrellas no está disponible por lesiones, partidos internacionales u otros compromisos, Kinnear elegirá de los alternantes. La plantilla de las Estrellas inactiva o alternativa será anunciada próximamente.
