Los Angeles Lionel Messi, el tricampeón con el Barcelona e integrante de la selección de Argentina fue galardonado aquí como el atleta latino del año por una cadena deportiva de Estados Unidos de América (ESPN).

Messi ha ganado el Balón de Oro, además de nominaciones como Mejor Jugador del año por la Federación Internacional de Futbol Asociación (FIFA) y formó parte del histórico triplete del Barcelona al ganar Copa del Rey, la Liga de España y la Liga de Campeones Uefa.

Pese a contar con sólo 21 años, el jugador nacido en Rosario, Argentina, forma parte del selecto grupo de futbolistas internacionales que se disputan la distinción de ser considerados entre los mejores del mundo.

Sobre el premio tras agradecer el reconocimiento dijo: “Siempre es lindo empezar el año así antes de pretemporada para arrancar con fuerza y bien”.

Messi se dijo afortunado por esa carrera que ha llevado desde que inició en Argentina en el Newells Old Boys y que lo ha llevado a formar parte del Barcelona y de la selección de su país.

“Hasta ahora solo disfruto el futbol que es mi auténtica pasión”, finalizó.
