Supersonico

Por primera vez en Los Ángeles, la música alternativa en español tomará el enfoque central como parte del festival de música Supersonico. Creado por el fundador de Latin Alternative Music Conference, Tomas Cookman, y los promotores de festival de Coachella, Supersonico se considera un acontecimiento cultural en multiples plataformas y en multiples lenguajes. La música incluye diferentes generos desde rock en español clásico hasta alternativo rap y otras mezclas de ritmos y culturas procedientes de latinoamerica y Estados Unidos. Algunas de las bandas que están programadas para el festival incluyen: Café Tacuva, Calle 13, Ana Tijoux, Bomba Estéreo, La Santa Cecilia, La Vida Boheme, Ceci Bastida, Los Rakas, Los MacUanos, Kita Klane y muchos más.

Supersonico se llevará a cabo el sábado 11 de octubre en Shrine Auditorioum and Expo Hall at 665 W. Jefferson Blvd in Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale Friday July 18 starting at 12 p.m. There is a presale so don’t wait too long to get your tickets. Tickets $46.

Celebra a Batman en las tiendas Barnes & Noble

For being 75 years old, Batman’s crime fighting skills don’t look a day over 32.

Barnes & Noble bookstores will be celebrating Batman, and the 75th year of Marvel Comics this summer with a number of fun events and giveaways. Just in time for Comic-Con. Note: Not all Barnes & Noble locations will be participating. Check with your local store first.

Wednesday, July 23 is Batman Day at the stores. In addition to contests and activities, the stores will be giving away a free copy of “Detective Comics” No. 27. They’ll also be awarding one lucky person their own mini-Bat signal.

If you’re looking for deals on comics, from July 23-27, the stores will be offering special deals on DC Comics graphic novels. Select stores will also offer convention collectibles from July 23-27.

Details on the big Marvel Comics event are still being worked on, but we do know that it will take place Saturday, Aug. 2.

Taste of Santa Ana

La Assistance League of Santa Ana ha organizado, por primera vez en la ciudad, el evento “Taste of Santa Ana” o “Sabor de Santa Ana”. Esta es una oportunidad para probar la comida de algunos de los comedores y restaurantes más reconocidos entre los residentes. Para celebrar el evento, que se llevará a cabo el domingo 20 de julio, se cerrara la calle Ross entre el Santa Ana Blvd. y la calle Tercera de 3 a 7 p.m. Algunos de los restaurantes que estarán participando incluyen: Alova Waters, Buffalo Brewery, Breakaway Lounge, Chapter One, C4 Deli, Rebel Ale’s Brewing Co., Sol Handcrafted Paletas y muchos más.

Festival de Arte

There is plenty to see and do this week as the Festival of Arts — California’s premier fine art show — continues in Laguna Beach. Family Art Day will take place on Saturday, July 19 from noon-3 p.m. Activities will include: Ceramics in the Art Center; “Art Quest” – an art exhibit treasure hunt where kids will answer kid-friendly questions by investigating different exhibits throughout the grounds; a marionette show, face painting, balloon art, hat making and a free lunch for the kids.

On Sunday, July 20 from 1-8 p.m., the Aulani Hawaiian Craft Workshop will take place. Discover this beautiful, ancient Hawaiian art, and create a keepsake in print. Use traditional kapa patterns that represent core values in Hawaiian culture.

Everything takes place at the Festival of Arts Grounds at 650 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach. General Admission: Weekdays $7, Weekends $10. Students & Seniors: Weekdays $4, Weekends $6. Free Admission for Children 12 and under, Military, and Laguna Beach Residents.
